Welcome to the third annual LABORfest event!
We’re thrilled to have some new plans for this year to make the event even more amazing for the local Rockford community! First, it’s being hosted by Birth in Rockford with Emily Dickey in support of both ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) of the Rock River Valley and ILFOM (Illinois Friends of Midwives).
Second, we have a new space! Rockford Wellness is located in NE Rockford on Riverside Blvd (between Alpine and Mulford) and will offer us a cozy place to feel at home while we hang out for the day and learn and chat about all things birth! It’s tri-level with multiple rooms to explore and a quiet lobby, which we’ll transform into a baby feeding space.
Finally, we’re making it more affordable for all to attend! Please spread the word, share with your friends, and JOIN US! RSVP to our event on Facebook. Read below for info on attending or joining as a vendor.
WANT TO ATTEND?
Wondering what LABORfest is all about? It’s an expo-style event for all to attend—meet with local birth professionals, service providers, and vendors all relevant to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum! From birth, breastfeeding, and babywearing to women’s health, cloth diapers, and more. There’s a silent auction full of goodies, a grand prize drawing, birth art, and some food to snack on! It will be an afternoon of fun! Support the local community, the non-profits dedicated to improving birth, and mingle with like-minded mamas. Check out our Facebook page photo album from the 2014 event.
Who: Open to ALL! Moms, dads, grandparents, partners, children, and babies! We’ll have coloring books or things to keep the little ones busy.
When: Save the date! Saturday, April 25th, 2015, from 1-5pm. Join the Facebook event page.
Cost: this event is open and FREE to the public, with a suggested donation of $5—it all goes to great causes that are improving birth and maternal care in the Rockford area! Donations can be made at the door.
BONUS: if you donate in advance of LABORfest, you’ll get an extra entry into the grand prize drawing for a stroller! One extra entry per $5 donation. Donate directly to ICAN of the Rock River Valley via paypal HERE.
Parking: Rockford Wellness has an off-street parking lot! If it is FULL, you can park along the driveway on the west side of the building or in the grass of the empty lot to the east. We’re contacting the nearby church to see if we can use their lot, too, so check back.
Strollers? The space is family friendly, but not very stroller friendly (there’s an outdoor ramp to the 2nd story entrance, but stairs within the different levels inside). Space is also limited so for these reasons we ask you please leave the strollers at home if possible.
WANT TO BE A VENDOR?
Who: we’re looking for local and relevant birth professionals, service providers, and vendors. SPACE IS LIMITED!
What: banquet tables will be sold at full size ($75) or half-size (shared with someone else; $35). Contact Emily Dickey about a non-profit rate or other needs: erdickey (at) gmail (dot) com
When: the event runs from 1-5pm. Setup will begin at 11am and we ask that your space is ready no later than 12:30pm. You can begin packing up once the event is over AFTER 5pm.
How: if you’d like to join us (great!), fill out this interest form. All vendors must be approved first and then Emily Dickey will be in touch to discuss event specifics and payment.
GIFT BAGS AND SILENT AUCTION:
If you’re interested in advertising your business or services, but are unable to have a table, you can put your promotional materials in our gift bags. We’ll be filling 50 bags and materials must be received by April 13th. Cost is $10 (vendors with a table will have their items included free if they’d like). Email Emily Dickey at erdickey (at) gmail (dot) com
Our silent auction is always a ton of fun! Items will be displayed with bidding sheets and all money raised will go to the non-profits for improving birth locally. We request items be at least ~$25 in value and must be received by April 13th. If you offer services and aren’t sure what you could contribute, anything relevant to new moms is great! A little gift basket, local items, or a gift certificate. Your business will be recognized for providing the donation. Email Emily Dickey at erdickey (at) gmail (dot) com
LABORfest will have a press release sent to all the local news outlets, newspapers, and magazines. In previous years, the story was picked up by a few and a TV news camera attended the event. All vendors and sponsors will also be listed on the LABORfest Facebook event page, displayed in a photo album, and promoted through April.
